Inky blue-purple and almost opaque in color. Aromas lift from the glass even before my nose gets close to it, with chocolate-enrobed blackberry, blueberry coulis, melted fig, black licorice, and iron-like minerality. The palate is velvety yet still with excellent tannin and acid, both of which frame flavors of garrigue, dried flowers, deeply iron-like minerality, blackberry and mulberry, charred black plum, leather, tobacco, and a savoriness ending with a hint of salinity. Excellent example of Gigondas in particular and Southern Rhône in general. And downright epic with dry-rubbed pork ribs. Drink now and for the next decade.
